We Invite You to Worship With Us

Our lives have been purchased by Christ on Calvary, so every day of our lives — in all our eating, drinking, working, and playing — is set apart for God . Without bringing contradiction to this reality, Christians have always set apart one day a week, finding rest from their ordinary daily routine to worship God together with their local church. From the earliest days of the New Testament Church, Christians have made a practice of meeting together for worship on Sunday, which they called “The Lord’s Day” because it is the day that Jesus rose from the dead. Sunday is a significant day for Sellwood Church, as we set apart the day from our normal routine to gather together as a church in the morning and in the evening. Often times church members will have lunch together between the morning and evening gatherings to talk about the sermon and to encourage each other in Christ.

Corporate Worship

Sunday Morning Worship Gathering at 10 AM

The centerpiece of our life together as a church is our weekly Sunday Worship Gathering. During this gathering we look to God together by listening to the reading and preaching of his word, celebrating the Lord’s Supper, praying, and singing the truth of his word. During the sermon we have age-targeted ministry available for zero to five-year-olds. Our background-checked and trained children’s ministry workers prepare an age-appropriate lesson from God’s word each week from our gospel-centered children’s curriculum. However, children of any age are also welcome to sit under the preaching of God’s word with their parents or guardians during our Sunday morning worship gathering.

Prayer Meeting

Sunday Evening Prayer Meeting at 6 PM

We encourage the whole congregation to gather back together for a short time on Sunday evenings. During this evening service we usually sing one or two songs in praise to God, review scripture memory verses and catechism questions, spend time in prayer for the needs of the congregation and the spread of the gospel throughout the world, and receive a short encouragement from God's Word that compliments the morning sermon. Childcare for young children is provided, but children of any age are welcome and encouraged to attend the evening prayer service with their parents.
