Sermon Discussion Questions
Read Acts 28:1-10. What is the main point of this passage of Scripture?
Jeff began the sermon this week by referring to the desire of all people to be vindicated. What does it mean for you to be vindicated? How do you experience the desire to be vindicated?
Consider Acts 28:4. The people of Malta had assumed that Justice was against Paul because of the circumstances of his life. Have you ever felt like God was not for you because things in life were going badly for you? Explain.
The people of Malta did their theology by their intuition of why the gods allowed for certain things to happen. Their intuition was wrong. How do you think we can fall into the trap of doing our theology by our circumstances rather than the Word of God?
The pattern of Christ is reflected in the life of Paul: 1. misunderstood to be under God’s displeasure (vv. 1-4), 2. miraculously vindicated by God (vv. 5-6), 3. made to be a blessing of God to others (vv. 7-10). How is this pattern reflected in our lives? Specifically, how have we been made to be a blessing of God to others? How can we grow in this individually and as a church, and so reflect and point to Christ?
How is God calling you to respond to this message from Acts 28:1-10?
